What is Springtime in the Netherlands but Tulips?
Keukenhof Gardens in Lisse, Netherlands is called the "Garden of Europe". It is about 80 acres big and every year they plant over seven million bulbs. There are over fifty full-time gardeners needed to tend to the Garden. The Gardens are only open for about eight weeks each year. For once, my timing was near perfect, as I was there during prime time.
There are not only tulips here, but daffodils, hyacinths, crocuses, narcissus, irises, lilies, azaleas and rhododendrons. Basically all of the spring time flowers with a very heavy emphasis on the tulips. We got there right as it opened and it was lovely to walk around all of the plantings. After about an hour, it got so crowded, you could hardly move.
