I made a mad dash across Arkansas, well, that was the plan, but I ended up in Russellville where a one-night stayed turned into a three night stay. I was right on the river and it was so peaceful, I felt that I needed to just stay and soak it all up.
On my way to Oklahoma City from my idyllic site on the Arkansas River in Russellville, I moved to the Cherokee Casino in Roland Oklahoma. It was a few feet from the off-ramp of I-40 where the semis would come roaring off the freeway using their Jake breaks. First time I had to use ear-plugs and even then it was a tough night sleep.
I did run into Fort Smith because I wanted to see the many side-of-the-building murals, painted by international artists. First you go to Miss Laura's Visitor Center to get the map of where they all were. Imagine my surprise when I find out that Miss Laura's was one of the high class brothels in the early twentieth century. The murals were a bust, btw – you could only drive by them so I didn't get to see very many of them.
The parlor - where the gentlemen would wait
Another couple of hours and I was in Oklahoma City. I stayed at the Twin Fountains RV Resort, very fancy indeed. It was expensive, but besides being fairly close to what I wanted to see, it had laundry facilities. It is the little things that matter.
Clever The sites were small and the Xmas Spirit was large
I was not particularly thrilled about going to the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum, but again, I was blown away by it's awesomeness. This place was huge, it had western art, a western village, Rodeo and Native American artifacts and a special exhibit on tattoos around the world. I spent a lot of time in this museum.

They even had a waterfall, albeit man-made. |
