Today we are
traveling from Wick, which is one of the most northeastern points on
mainland Scotland, all the way to the magical Isle of Skye, off the
western coast. I guess you could call it a cross-country trip.
Google tells me it is a five-hour journey but with a few photo stops
and a lunch break in Ullapool, it turned into a full day trip.

This weed is called Fire Star - at least that is what Guide Phil told me - I'm not sure he really knew what its name was. It looks and acts like Fire Weed which was prevalent in Alaska. |

Loch Carron Stromeferry Those little round circles in the loch are fish farms |

This was my tiny, tiny room at the Kings Arm Hotel. You are looking at the whole room here. I actually found it a little bit cozy. |

Haggis - contains a sheep' heart, liver and lungs, minced with onion, oatmeal, suet, spices and cooked while traditionally encased in the animal's stomach. Haggis has an excellent nutty texture and delicious savoury flavour -Wiki Haggis was served at every breakfast; this is dinner haggis - complete with a small glass of whiskey. |
|
Finally - a good sized waterfall Mealt Falls on the Kilt Rocks - called Kilt rocks because the rocks look like kilts |

The brown is the heather - it must have been beautiful when the heather was blooming |

Blanche here, just starting to be able to use my words following the u.s. election. This is amazing - I love your story and the photos. All except for the hagis - ugh! I would have appreciated the shot of whisky though. 😀
